WELCOME

The Catholic Youth Ministry Center at Morgan Park High School is, first and foremost, a welcoming ministry of hospitality. It is a warm, accepting environment where all are welcome regardless of ethnicity, gender, or religious beliefs. With many young people returning to an empty home after their school day, there is no one to ask how their day went or be involved in their activities. The Center is a “home away from home,” where there is always someone home and always someone to talk to. Once young people become a part of the Center, which they fondly call “The Blue House,” they can participate in regularly scheduled opportunities to learn values and skills often not taught in schools or in many homes. Since the Center dedication in 1979, more than eleven thousand young people have participated in our programs.

Over the years our programs have changed to reflect the needs of the young people we serve—from the days of roller skating parties and high school credit classes to today’s restorative conversations with members of the Chicago Police Department and hands-on leadership training. Our mission, however, remains the same: “The Catholic Youth Ministry Center at Morgan Park High School exists to provide guidance for students attending Morgan Park High School. By promoting moral values, the Center reaches out to students, faculty and the community in the roles of advocate, counselor, teacher and friend.”
As a small not for profit agency, we rely on the generosity of others to continue to offer quality programs to the young people of Morgan Park High School. We truly appreciate the generosity of all who have supported “The Blue House.”
